Beach
Barbecues:
Enjoy a specially catered lunch or dinner on the beach! Now
this is the Caribbean we all can recognize! Sip an icy cold rum
punch, eat fresh-caught grilled fish, hit the cricket ball, soak
up the warm sun or enjoy a breathtaking sunset. At Tropical Escapes,
we don't do crowded, broiling-hot tourist beaches. We love the small
spots and we love sharing them with our small groups. We keep great
relationships with the local towns and businesses so they are always
happy to see us.
Bird
Watching:
Observe some of the rare indigenous species found on these islands
on a bird watching trip! The rugged lush mountain terrain, drier
savannas and sweeping shoreline provide a great variety of habitat
for a wide diversity if birds in a relatively small area. Dominica
has 167 recorded species while St. Lucia has 165. Both islands boast
their own species of parrots!
Fine Dining:
Even though your group’s private chef is sure to introduce
you to a wide variety of mouth watering local fusion cuisine, you
may feel for a night out on the town! We are more then happy to
make recommendations, reservations and organize transportation to
one of the many fine restaurants on the islands, the highest concentration
of these being on the north end of St. Lucia.
Golf:
There is a championship course spred
around the northern tip of Cap Estate, St. Luica. Unwind and relax
at this semiprivate course, complete with a Country Clubhouse, that
accomodates players of all skill levels.
Hiking:
There are enough rainforest hiking trails to do a different one
every day for weeks on end. Some take but an hour while others need
a full day. There are relaxed walks as well as moderate and strenuous
hikes. Just let us know what you are looking for and we will make
all the arrangements. We have hiked all over these islands, and
we know all the best places, whether you're in the mood for a relaxing
stroll to a cool waterfall or a challenging day hike to the top
of a 2500-foot mountain. St. Lucia and Dominica contain two of the
three UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Lesser Antilles - spectacular
natural scenery that you can't find anywhere else on earth. On foot,
you will get close to the tropical flowers, gather wild fruit, see
spectacular vistas, and catch a glimpse of the indigenous hummingbirds,
butterflies and maybe even a parrot!
Horseback Riding:
Enjoy a ride on a rainforest trail, through a working
plantation estate or on the beach culminating with a bare back horse
and rider swim. Different trips are available at the various stables.
Day packages can be arranged as well as just a morning or an afternoon
ride.
Hot Springs:
The geothermal activity on these young islands creates many lovely
hot springs and we know all the best hot spots! A relaxing soak
in a natural hot spring is the best thing for a tired body and a
worn-out mind. A stop may be added to a day trip or a separate excursion
can be arranged.
Kayaking:
Sea kayaking can be arranged as a guided trip complete with instruction
or as a simple equipment rental. Either way, paddling on the calm
waters of the Caribbean is a great way to spend an hour or a day.
In Dominica you can experience the thrill of maneuvering the light
rapids of the islands largest and longest river right down into
the Caribbean Sea!
Kite Surfing:
This relatively new sport is literally taking off
in St. Lucia! The facilities are located in the south at Vieux Fort
Bay. Packages and instruction available.
Massage and Spa Treatment:
We can make arrangements for the best facials, mud baths,
massages and a wide variety of other spa treatments. If you'd like,
a private masseuse will come to you. Or if you would prefer, we
can arrange a luxurious day package one of the many local spas.
Just tell us what you want and we will make it happen!
Night Life:
Weekend Street Parties: Village’s roads turn into a promenade
of little restaurants under the stars with cheap drinks and people
cooking the freshly caught fish, crab, and lobster right in front
of you. Together with some Caribbean music the street festival are
enjoyed by many guests as they join the local people at these “jump
ups” the celebration of another weekend! There are also a
number of local bars and clubs as well as a few with a more international
flavor. Music is key in Caribbean culture and we are on the inside
track when it comes to concerts and events!

This activity provides spectacular views and can be included in
a day trip.
Rainforest Tram:
Gliding through tropical rainforest on a silent gondola,
you see and learn about every layer of the forest, from the canopy
to the root system. Few people in the world get such a close look
at the inner workings of these remarkable ecosystems. The hanging
canopy gardens are stunning and the story of the rainforest even
more so. The rainforest trams are a world-class ecotourism experience,
