Bromley is built on the foundation of a Spanish stone fort dating
from the 16th century and its high ceilings and deep verandahs,
shaded by the delicate branches of Ponciana trees, keep it cool
in the hottest of weather. Bromley’s generous bedroom suites,
large living areas and extensive grounds make it an ideal destination
for workshops and retreats of all kinds whether writing, painting,
music, or yoga.
Meals feature authentic Caribbean recipes and use a wide range of
spices and seasonings, exotic sauces, jams and chutneys, from Walkerswood
Caribbean Foods, the world renowned producers of jerk seasoning,
who grow and manufacture their products in the village. Take time
over a breakfast of freshly squeezed orange juice, papaya, grapefruit
or mangoes, fresh eggs from a neighboring farm, cassava pancakes
and limitless cups of Blue Mountain coffee. Dine outside by candlelight
or in the elegant dining room on jerk leg of lamb with guava sauce,
vegetable curry, or a simple organically raised roast chicken with
dried jerk rub.
During your stay at Bromley you will be hosted by one of the owners
with a unique knowledge of the area. Visit local galleries and artists,
hike along stunning back country trails, travel into the interior
to the birthplace of Bob Marley, or swim in the headwaters of the
White River on a neighboring private estate. Take time out from
