Other
– Retreat groups are encouraged to include an afternoon of
Karma Yoga. The owners of Bromley have had a long and rich history
of participation in the community of Walkerswood. They donated land
for the primary school and helped build the pre-school school
which had no government funding. They have been heavily involved
in the local community council and have taken on vital issues like the building
of a community center and sports field, drilling of
a well on family land to bring running water to the community for
the first time in its history, employment and low income housing. The current Walkerswood Caribbean
Foods seasoning and spice factory was born out of the drive to create
employment and keep young people from migrating to Kingston or abroad.
The factory now employs over a hundred people from the community
and has reinvigorated interest in agriculture with a ready market
for the WCF seasonings. |

| Group
Leader Testimonial: |
“Alex
Edwards and her warm and wonderful staff made my workshop an experience
I'll remember always. From those big Jamaican breakfasts on the
porch to our candlelit dinners and everything in between - magical
afternoons at the beach and ceaseless hospitality, our stay at Bromley
provided a glimpse of the real Jamaica. The house and grounds are
magnificent, but it was the people who made the week for my students
and me. I'd return in a heartbeat."
